Flight Lieutenant Edward “Ted” Powles, an RAF Spitfire pilot based at Kai Tak, Hong Kong, flew secret and clandestine, high-altitude photographic reconnaissance missions over communist China in a Spitfire PR Mk XIX during the Korean War.
